They met at the opening night of an art film retrospective — Isabelle in the front row, Dominic in the projection booth. After the credits rolled, he came down to ask what she thought of the ending. She said it was perfect but could have used more silence. He agreed immediately.
He left a note in the programme the next night. She left one back in the booth. This went on for a week before either of them admitted they were waiting for it.
Three years later, he proposed during a private screening he had set up — a short film he had made of their life together, the credits rolling into her name and the question. She was already saying yes before the lights came back on.
